As the SFMTA continues to invest in technology to address the communication needs of a local audience with extremely high expectations and standards, the Agency is seeking a creative and curious self-starter to ensure that its most important digital communication channel, SFMTA.com, is well maintained, organized and easy to use.

Under the general supervision of the Digital Communications Principal, the Webmaster is responsible for implementing and maintaining the SFMTA’s websites, Drupal and all related technical and analytic support for software applications. The Communication Division’s Marketing section is responsible for identification, implementation, and management of agency-wide communications tools for customer support and outreach to constituents.

The IS Business Analyst – Webmaster will leverage experience with Drupal to manage SFMTA.com and other web assets. The SFMTA is a distributed content contribution environment, and as such, the Webmaster will be responsible for connecting with staff, keeping them informed and guiding them through the effort to ensure simplicity and clarity on the site. The Webmaster will perform functional tasks such as information analysis and design, requirements documentation, testing, and user support. A key function of the role is to advocate for the customer experience of how people access transportation information including trip planning and wayfinding as well as Agency project and business information published on SFMTA.com.

Examples of Essential Functions: Provide proper administration of Drupal with the timely application of security patches to Drupal, user configuration and permissions, content type administration, content configuration and reporting. Work closely with the Agency’s contract engineering team, manage their priorities and evaluate the effectiveness of resulting solutions at meeting the needs of the Agency and its audience. Assist in the analysis of user needs and author requirements documentation to research and evaluate software. Assist in the conduction of systems analysis and configuration activities for Drupal to document new and modified user experience. Participate in the development of new applications and test software to ensure compatibility. Assist in the provision of user training through the creation of instruction and technical manuals. Provide technical support to users of the website with advice on best practices. Coordinate with users and outside vendors, when necessary, to respond to service requests and implement solutions to problems. Participate in industry user meetings or meetings of related committees, particularly as such meetings relate to advances in Drupal, search engine optimization (SEO), accessibility, and inclusion. Assist in the provision of accessibility for all audiences across all SFMTA digital communications tools to ensure commitment to equity and inclusion. Assist in the provision of website governance to ensure that SFMTA.com adheres to legal requirements and Agency policies. Perform related duties as required.

Nature of work: Essential duties require the following physical skills and work requirements: Some positions may require sufficient strength and coordination for lifting, pushing, pulling and/or carrying the weight of computer equipment. May require hand/eye coordination for semi-skilled movements, such as taking apart casings, installing parts and reconnecting computers and for performing data entry. May involve extensive VDT exposure.
